We noticed the phone ringing out because her fingers wouldn't work the screen, and the texts we got hours late with half the letters wrong. So they came off, and her hands went cold again.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThe thin ones looked lovely and did nothing. Ten minutes outside and she was back to rubbing her fingers.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThe \"thermal\" ones were bulky and shapeless, like something you'd wear on a ski lift. She's always taken pride in how she looks, and she wasn't going to wear those to Sunday lunch with her friends. We didn't blame her.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eAnd not one pair, not a single one, let her answer the phone. Every call meant pulling a glove off with her teeth, and by the time she'd finished talking her fingers were white again.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eWe kept thinking: it can't be this hard. Thin enough to keep on indoors, at the kitchen table, in the car, in her armchair with a book. Soft enough that she forgets she's wearing them. Touchscreen fingertips on the thumb and index finger, so when we ring, she picks up. And pretty enough that she wears them out with pride.
